“If the young women of tomorrow are to take advantage of emerging economic opportunities, the foundation for their STEM careers needs to be laid today.”

Getting more women into STEM occupations could translate into greater gender equality in incomes and better economic prospects for women and their families. In Pakistan, less than 10% of women account for all STEM graduates. For engineering programs, 23% of the students are female, while only 15% of faculty are women. Societal and institutional barriers dramatically hinder Pakistani women’s ability to pursue their careers. For example, only 4.6% of the technical positions in Pakistan’s energy sector are occupied by women. This session features industry experts who will discuss how Pakistan can better recruit, retain, and develop the female workforce in the STEM and Energy sector. For Speakers Profiles, click here.

This webinar is a prelude to the upcoming “STEM Forward – Mega Online Job Fair”, a convention of candidates and companies from STEM fields and the energy sector in Pakistan, scheduled for November 20-21, 2020 from 9am to 3pm (Pakistan time). For more information, visit www.stemforward2020.com.
