Kopernink wins UNDP Peace Innovation Challenge

ENERGIA partner Kopernik wins UNDP IIX-N-Peace Innovation Challenge,  a joint initiative by the N-Peace Network, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and Impact Investment Exchange Asia (IIX).

The challenge is an enterprise competition that aims to accelerate the peacebuilding agenda by supporting Impact Enterprises working to empower women, engage youth, and catalyse innovation and technology.

Kopernink receives the award for its ‘Ibu Inspirasi’ or ‘Wonder Women’ programme. This programme empowers women to become micro-social entrepreneurs selling clean energy technologies, such as solar lamps, clean cookstoves and water filters. To date, Kopernik has traines more than 300 women and sold approximately 10,000 clean energy products, reducing CO2 emissions by over 50,000 tonnes.

With ENERGIA’s support, Kopernink is able to expand their Wonder Women programme with 500 women, reaching 250,000 consumers.
