In the framework of the pre- Summit All4Climate Italy 2021 and Youth4Climate, promoted by Italian Government as preparatory meetings to the UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26), RES4Africa Foundation in collaboration with AVSI is organising two virtual side-events with the support of Enel Green Power and the European Investment Bank, in partnership with the United Nations Enviroment Program. The first event, “African youth-led Summit: Climate Change and Renewable Energy”, will be carried out on the 28th of September 2021, 14.30 – 16.30 CET; the second event, “Driving a just energy transition- leaving no youth behind”, will take place on the 1st of October 2021, 14.30 – 16.00 CET.

Silvia Sartori, our Women’s Economic Empowerment Project Manager, will be participating in the second event to reflect with experts upon the involvement of youth in the fight against climate change and in the transition towards a REs-based system, but also on its environmental, economic and social impact and the role of sustainable policies.

The event will see young moderators addressing specific questions and recommendations collected in the Final Youth Agenda to high-level institutions representatives. Thematic discussions will be carried out in four simultaneous breakout rooms covering four different topics:

  1. Driving empowerment: the involvement of youth, women and most vulnerable groups affected by climate change.
  2. A holistic and inclusive energy transition: A focus on the socio-economic, and environmental impacts.
  3. The role of the youth in driving sustainable innovation.
  4. Role of sustainable policies in climate adaptation, innovation and mitigation.

At the end of the discussions, all audience and speakers will be back to the plenary where the young moderator of each group will present the key aspects identified during the discussion in each break out room.
