This presentation explores some of the current thinking on development, what the implications are for the energy sector, and then examines the gender implications of the energy-poverty nexus. Following on from this, the paper looks at the role renewable energy technologies have to play in this arena. It also intends to make a few remarks on gender and energy issues in the North, before concluding with suggestions on how to move forward.
