ENERGIA Call for Proposals:
Gender in Energy Projects/Markets

Through its "Gender in Energy Projects / Markets" strategy, ENERGIA aims to provide both expertise and resources to mainstream gender approaches in existing energy access projects in Asia and Africa. This will include:

  • Technical advice from ENERGIA's international and regional gender experts to advise on how to use gender methodologies, tools and techniques in energy access projects/markets. ENERGIA gender experts will also interact with project teams through field visits and in-country meetings.
  • Financial assistance to support the implementation of gender action plans (such as baseline studies, training, workshops, in-country gender experts, participatory assessments, etc) within the planning, implementation and monitoring of energy access projects.

In this context, ENERGIA is pleased to invite its National Focal Points, their partner institutions and other stakeholders to submit project proposals to mainstream gender approaches into existing energy projects.

This applies to the following countries:

In Asia: Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Lao PDR, Philippines and Indonesia.

In Africa: Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Mali, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Lesotho, Botswana, Swaziland, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Deadline for application: June 14, 2008

Proposals from Asia should be sent to:
Ms Soma Dutta, Asia Regional Network Coordinator; and
Ms Ana Rojas, Asia Desk Officer at the ENERGIA International Secretariat.

Proposals from Africa should be sent to:
Ms Nozipho Wright, Africa Regional Network Coordinator; and
Ms Heleen Broekkamp, Africa Desk Officer at the ENERGIA International Secretariat.
