Venkata Ramana Putti
Dr. Putti is a Senior Environmental Specialist and Team Leader of the Carbon Finance Assist program at the World Bank, Washington DC. In this position, he manages a $20m Trust Fund, which provides technical assistance in about 50 developing countries and economies in transition, which enhances their capacity to participate in the global carbon market through promotion of projects in renewable energy, energy efficiency, clean fuels, waste management, etc.
He has over 20 years of international experience across over 40 countries with demonstrated expertise in climate change mitigation, rural energy, renewable energy, and natural resources management areas. He holds degrees in engineering and management, and a PhD in renewable energy policy. He has to his credit over 90 publications, including 17 authored/edited books. Prior to World Bank, he served as Director of Global Clean Energy Program at Winrock International, USA, and as Assistant Resident Representative and GEF Coordinator for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), India.
