Women as a Major Group at CSD-15

As the official Organising Partners for Women as a Major Group ENERGIA and Women's Environment and Development Organization (WEDO) are primarily responsible for facilitating the input of Women into CSD-15. In this respect, ENERGIA aims to:

  • Build greater awareness among governments and the international community about the importance of gender-sensitivity in efforts to promote sustainable energy policies.
  • To have that awareness reflected in new, concrete commitments and actions by governments and other development actors in the negotiated policy documents of CSD-15.

Memorandum of Understanding with WEDO
Building upon the successful partnership at CSD-14 and as a means to coordinate inputs and harmonise efforts from representatives of the Women's Major Group into the CSD-15 process, WEDO and ENERGIA have signed an MoU. WEDO and ENERGIA have agreed to further promote and integrate a gender perspective into the discussions and concrete outcomes of CSD-15 on energy and development and climate change.

Women's Major Group Input to Secretary General Reports for CSD-15
As official organising partners for Women as a Major Group, WEDO and ENERGIA coordinated the submission of the Inputs to the Secretary General Reports for CSD-15. This would not have been possible without the inputs provided by the members of the Group, whom we thank for their cooperation and insight. The inputs were submitted in August 2006.
