Structure of ENERGIA

ENERGIA is an informal network with an International Secretariat (IS) that is responsible for overall management and coordination of network activities. Since 1999, the IS is hosted by the ETC Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation based in Leusden, the Netherlands.

One of the priorities has been the decentralisation in the development of ENERGIA's organisational structure. This has resulted in the establishment of two regional networks in Africa and Asia. These regional networks have developed into active and vibrant networks, which are working closely with the IS and with each other. These regional networks are headed by a Regional Network Coordinator (RNC), located within, or liaising closely with a Regional Secretariat. The RNCs facilitate the process of needs assessment at the national and regional levels, and translate these into concrete network activities. They coordinate programme activities and engage with the NFPs and network members at the regional level. The Regional Secretariats have a supportive role to the regional network activities.

Each regional network consists of a number national networks, which are managed and coordinated by focal point organisations. For an overview of the Regional Secretariats, RNCs and the ENERGIA Focal Points, click here.

The ENERGIA Advisory Group (AG) provides strategic guidance and direction to the network and its activities. ENERGIA can further rely on a group of technical advisors, who support the network’s activities at the international, regional and national level on a demand-driven basis.
