Jaap de Winter
Jaap de Winter is a senior consultant in energy, poverty and environment with 15 years of professional experience. Graduated at Wageningen Agricultural University, his key interest is in renewable energy and rural development. He has been involved in economic and financial analyses and demonstration projects of small-scale irrigation and water pumping systems in Nicaragua. He was a solar and wind energy advisor based at Twente University and a consultant on renewable energy and small enterprise development in Peru for the TOOL Foundation, which he combined with promoting the Netherlands' Management Assistance Program among the local business community in Peru. In 1995, he joined the ETC Netherlands office and has been involved in consultancy assignments on rural and renewable energy projects, and, since 2000, in management of the Energy Unit of the ETC Foundation. Jaap is also the ad interim executive secretary of the ENERGIA Secretariat and overall manager of the EASE (Enabling Access to Sustainable Energy) programme within the Energy Unit.
