Regional and National Focal Points

Focal points play a key role in the ENERGIA network, being the communication points between grassroots members and the wider international ENERGIA network. They have a catalytic role in initiating gender and energy activities within their networks. To ensure they can fulfil this role, they are selected through a process of consultation at the national/regional level. Only established organisations can be elected as focal points.

Currently, ENERGIA has a total of nineteen focal points in Africa and Asia. In Africa one regional, three subregional, and nine national focal points have been established, while in Asia six national focal points have been selected.

Focal Point Activities

In Phase 3, ENERGIA is planning to support the gradual expansion and building up of the network's capacity in Oceania and Latin America. In Central America, ENERGIA has established a working relationship with the GENES network and this is expected to be strengthened in the third phase.
